Lyndsey Selley
Lyndsey has a variety of styles of work, from intricately detailed to loose and atmospheric. Experimenting allows Lyndsey the freedom to paint in the technique that she wants and she often finds that the subject dictates the style in which she is going to work; whether to paint it photographically or in a looser and more contemporary style using splashes of paint and big brush strokes.
When using her photo-realistic style Lyndsey’s images of animals illustrate her faithful attention to detail and her exquisite use of brushwork. Her impressionistic pieces will often provoke thought to the viewer and Lyndsey will play with the effects of camouflage and atmosphere, she enjoys throwing paint and letting it run off the page, or just seeing how it falls.
Lyndsey travels far and wide to capture the right reference, but is most inspired by seeing the animals in their natural habitat and the fantastic light in South Africa.
